| Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground
If you had not have fallen Then I would not have found you Angel flying too close to the ground And I patched up your broken wing And hung around a while Trying to keep your spirits up And your fever down I knew someday that you would fly away For love's the greatest healer to be found So leave me if you need to I will still remember Angel flying too close to the ground Fly on, fly on past the speed of sound I'd rather see you up Than see you down Leave me if you need to I will still remember Angel flying too close to the ground |

| I've always loved this song. The lyrics are beautiful, but the guitar playing, especially the segment between the 2nd and 3rd verse, is phenomenal.
It is easy, when considering Willie's singing and songwriting, not to mention his larger-than-life icon status, to forget that he is first and foremost a musician in a class by himself. He does not need half a dozen specialty guitars, each tuned for a certain sound. His trademark guitar with the red, white, and blue strap and hole in the front is all he needs to provide a virtuoso performance. |
